TARGET GROUP

  • Primary: Rural communities in Kitui Rural Sub-county, Kenya
  • Focus: Women, girls, and other vulnerable groups disproportionately affected by climate change and low-resource environments

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project aims to strengthen low-carbon, climate-resilient economic development in rural Kitui. By supporting sustainable livelihoods and environmentally friendly practices, it addresses both environmental and social vulnerabilities. The initiative places a special focus on empowering women, girls, and marginalized groups to lead and benefit from green economic opportunities, while promoting long-term resilience against climate shocks.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

  • Promote climate-resilient livelihoods by introducing sustainable, low-carbon economic activities suited to rural settings.
  • Enhance community resilience to climate change, with targeted support for vulnerable groups, especially women and girls.
  • Foster inclusive green growth by ensuring equitable access to training, resources, and opportunities in climate-smart sectors.
  • Contribute to environmental sustainability through community education, nature-based solutions, and responsible resource use.
