Primary: Communities living in degraded landscapes

Focus: Households dependent on natural resources, with emphasis on marginalized groups needing climate resilience and economic diversification

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project supports the rehabilitation of degraded landscapes and the enhancement of carbon stocks through community-led restoration initiatives. It also promotes sustainable livelihoods by linking communities to carbon market opportunities, enabling them to benefit financially from environmental stewardship. In addition, the project emphasizes evidence-based learning and innovation to strengthen climate change mitigation and generate locally relevant adaptation strategies.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

  • Restore degraded ecosystems and improve carbon sequestration through community-driven land rehabilitation efforts.
  • Facilitate entry into carbon markets to diversify incomes and incentivize long-term environmental care.
  • Promote sustainable, climate-smart income-generating activities tailored to local ecological conditions.
  • Generate and share evidence and learning on effective mitigation and adaptation practices to inform policy and future programming.
